Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Ferndale School District Director for Position 5. My name is Peggy Uppiano and I want to continue with work that was started during my first term in 2021. I believe that schools have assumed many obligations that distract from the core responsibility: to educate. But I also believe the focus can be restored and that this is the best thing we can do for our kids. The Strategic Plan that our district has adopted prioritizes mastery of academics and student growth. It is the first step in the move forward. My website is continually under construction, so please check back as I update it to include my bio, information and thoughts on education, and links to informative sites. I appreciate your visit and I hope you will check back soon!
On the Focus page, I lay out my priorities for this campaign: literacy, numeracy, and transparency. Please note that while I have many thoughts and opinions on the delivery of education, I use them to guide my own actions. As a board director I evaluate and approve or reject proposals and projects brought by the administration. My research informs my decision making.
Please attend our meetings. Our regular meetings are the last Tuesday of each month at Mountain View school, 5780 Hendrickson Avenue at 6:00 pm. Better yet, tell us what you think: email or sign up to speak during the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting (visit ferndalesd.org and find the comment form under the School Board menu). Good ideas and policy suggestions can come from anyone: the administration, staff, students, board directors, or citizens. These are your schools! Your input belongs
and is valued!
